Intermediate Level Nuclear Waste has to be stored at all nuclear facilities including AWE Aldermaston.Decommissioned submarines waste also has to be stored for many years. The government solution of a deep underground depository to take it in future is not certain and is not acceptable since would not be retrievable in the event of leakage. In Scotland, the Highland Council is being pressed to ensure that far north residents receive a cash windfall if plans for a low level waste dump go-ahead.Aberdeen Press and Journal 17th Sept 2008
