New Report Launch

report cover

Our new report 'Trouble Ahead: Risks and Rising Costs in the UK Nuclear Weapons Programme' is launching on Tuesday 30 April in the Palace of Westminster.

The 60 page report is the result of a 16 month project and reveals in detail the grave risks and dramatically rising costs emerging in the UK's nuclear weapons upgrade programmes. The study identifies precarious interdependencies, critical safety and project risks, and flawed cost projections in a programme that looks increasingly unlikely to meet its targets. Implications for policy-makers are outlined along with a set of recommendations.

The launch event is hosted by Fabian Hamilton MP, Shadow Minister for Peace and Disarmament and key findings will be presented by the author, David Cullen, followed by responses from a panel comprising  Dr Michelle Bentley (Royal Holloway University of London/CIPP), Fabian Hamilton, Douglas Chapman MP (SNP) and Celia McKeon (Rethinking Security). The event will finish with an audience discussion, with the invited representatives from parliament, academia, non-governmental organisations, and the defence and finance sectors.

The report PDF will be on our website from Tuesday afternoon. If you would like a hard copy please email office@nuclearinfo.org.uk
