B61-12 Nuclear Bombs – more risk than security?

This report follows our recent ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ report on the new F35a nuclear fighter jets and investigates UK government plans to host US B61-12 air-launched nuclear gravity bombs in the UK. These bombs could be deployed from the new F35A dual-capable fighter jets as part of NATO’s nuclear mission.

There has been no public consultation or parliamentary scrutiny of this significant change to our existing nuclear arms which has been based solely on submarines continuously at sea for several decades.

A briefing and discussion is being held in the House of Lords by Baroness Natalie Bennett and Nuclear Information Service on Wednesday 25th February. Parliamentarians and civil society experts will have the opportunity to consider the implications of a nuclear-armed RAF.
